Comprehensive high schools: Byron Nelson HS, Northwest HS, and Eaton HS. NISD-TX has a well-organized CBE program with grade-skipping, elementary math acceleration, HS CBE, and credit recovery all separately documented.

This is an independent guide. Texas CBE™ is not affiliated with NISD-TX. Confirm specifics with your campus counselor.

The four program tracks

  1. Grade Skipping (K-8) — for students who can demonstrate mastery of an entire grade level. Advanced Academics office coordinates.
  2. Elementary Math Acceleration — separate math-only track for elementary students ahead in mathematics.
  3. HS Credit by Exam — the standard course-acceleration path for high-school-credit subjects.
  4. Credit Recovery — separate program for students who failed a course previously and need to recover the credit (70% bar).

How NISD-TX families typically use CBE

  1. Algebra 1 acceleration between 8th and 9th grade.
  2. Elementary math acceleration — dedicated NISD-TX program.
  3. Foreign-language CBE — heritage speakers formalize existing fluency.
  4. Grade skip in K-8 — through the Advanced Academics office.
