Northwest ISD CBE — Parent Guide: 80% Pass, 4 Program Tracks, Free District Tests (2026-2027)
Northwest ISD (NISD-TX, distinct from Northside ISD in San Antonio) is a fast-growing district serving Justin, Roanoke, Trophy Club (parts), Haslet, and other communities NW of DFW. Comprehensive high schools: Byron Nelson HS, Northwest HS, and Eaton HS. NISD-TX has a well-organized CBE program with grade-skipping, elementary math acceleration, HS CBE, and credit recovery all separately documented.

The four program tracks
- Grade Skipping (K-8) — for students who can demonstrate mastery of an entire grade level. Advanced Academics office coordinates.
- Elementary Math Acceleration — separate math-only track for elementary students ahead in mathematics.
- HS Credit by Exam — the standard course-acceleration path for high-school-credit subjects.
- Credit Recovery — separate program for students who failed a course previously and need to recover the credit (70% bar).
Credit by Examination asks for 80% with no prior instruction. Full-length mock exams written to the same TEKS the exam is drawn from — Algebra 1, Geometry, Biology, Chemistry and more.
